Lead In Overview could be more complete

[edit]

The lead-in Overview is not a really good summary of the article. Recommend that it be beefed up to more completely summarize the article, especially long and ongoing controversy about ex-PM Mulroney's role in this sorry affair. Tony (talk) 02:28, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oliphant Quotes

[edit]

“I have a feeling that something is going on here behind the scenes of which I am not aware” – Justice Jeffrey Oliphant, May 7, 2009; 24.77.81.154 (talk) 17:08, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the article summary is a claim that the disposal of Air Canada's 747 fleet was somehow connected with the Airbus affair.

Given that the deal for the Air Canada A320 fleet was concluded in 1988, while the Air Canada 747-100 and -200 combi fleet weren't sold until 1998, I find it difficult to draw any connection between these two events. Is there a reference supporting this supposition?--Plane nutz (talk) 19:46, 26 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Slightly off-topic

[edit]

This article does not really tell us much about the Airbus affair per se, and is instead mostly concerned with the cash payments made by Schreiber to Mulroney in the 1990s, which may or may not be related to the Airbus affair. To say that the Mulroney-Schreiber relationship is a tanged affair that has been the subject of much debate is an understatement, so at present I don't think that this material should be moved out of this page, but it would be nice if this page had more information on the actual Airbus affair, namely the allegations that Mulroney and other senior Tories accepted kickbacks from Airbus in 1988 in exchange for buying jets from Airbus. That is what should the main focus of this article. --A.S. Brown (talk) 01:12, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
